Steve Adams

• Happy Monday! Hopefully five more games left just to extend the drama! (Sorry Brewers fans … I’m sure you’d prefer it to be only two!)
• I’ll get going at 2:30pm CT, but feel free to ask some questions ahead of time!
• Greetings! Let’s get underway

Blackout Gatling

• overall, this FA class seems pretty weak. Should we expect a more active trade market for those teams looking for real upgrades that may not find what they are looking for in the open market?

Steve Adams

• Yeah I think it’s going to be a pretty active trade market. The free agent class is bad, particularly up top, but the middle tiers aren’t demonstrably worse than what we’d see in a given winter, and there’s a decent crop of back-end starters and reasonably priced setup arms. Definitely lacking on impact bats though. We’ll have a list of our top trade candidates of the offseason probably the morning after the World Series ends. Darragh, Anthony and I were just running through some of that earlier today. Anthony got a start writing it last week or the week prior; there should be some good names out there, and I do think there’ll be plenty of activity on both ends of the inevitable lockout. Last time around, the few days leading into the lockout were like a mini trade deadline, and then there was a big rush coming out of the freeze as teams scrambled to get their rosters together without much time to operate.

Al

• Will Deyvison de los Santos be given much of a sho this Spring?

Steve Adams

• We’ll see how active the Marlins are in adding, but he already feels like he’s slipped down the depth chart some, especially with Kyle Stowers shifting to first base in Miami.I’ve never been super bullish on De Los Santos. “Righty with low walk rate, big power and poor hit tool” is just not a skill set that gets me excited. Marlins clearly don’t mind it, since they traded for DDLS and also signed Christopher Morel last winter, but I’m not super optimistic on De Los Santos in general.

Starters

• What’s the list of available arms this winter? Free agency is pretty meh for mid to small market teams.

Steve Adams

• • I assume this is in reference to trade? I’ll run through a few quickly…
